Webinar on Federal Funding Opportunities for Tribal Water Access coming up on November 21st!

The Initiative on Universal Access to Clean Water (UACW) for Tribal Communities was established to tackle the critical issue of insufficient access to basic drinking water services in Tribal households. UACW focuses on legislative and federal agency-focused advocacy, and recently produced a Funding Handbook focused on IRA and BIL funding available to Tribes. The Funding Handbook highlights opportunities that specifically support water access projects, as well as climate mitigation and adaptation actions on Tribal lands. In this webinar, the UACW team will explore how Tribes can leverage this historic funding to meet their community needs. The webinar is intended for Tribal communities, students, professors, researchers, and staff who are focusing on challenges, solutions, and initiatives related to Tribal water justice.

The participants will be welcomed by Dr. Andrea Gerlak from the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy. Dr. Karletta Chief from the University of Arizona Indigenous Resilience Center will share on the Tribal Access to Clean Water - The Arizona Experience, followed by the presentation by Dr. Heather Tanana and Dr. Amy McCoy on the Universal Access to Clean Water for Tribal Communities (UACW) and Handbook to discuss tribal water funding opportunities and processes. Dr. Paloma Beamer from the University of Arizona Western Environmental Science Technical Assistance Center for Environmental Justice, will facilitate a Question and Answer. Closing will be provided by Dr. Kathy Jacobs the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions.
